Expression
Your Expression number, also called the Destiny number, is drawn from every letter of your full birth name. It describes your natural talents and abilities, the equipment you were given to work with, and the potential you are here to develop over a lifetime.
How it’s calculated
Every letter has a value from 1 to 9 in the Pythagorean system. The Expression uses all of them, consonants and vowels together, across your full birth name. The values are summed and reduced to a single digit or a Master Number (11, 22, 33).
Because it uses the whole name, the Expression is the fullest name-based number in your chart. Your Soul Urge reads only the vowels and your Personality only the consonants; the Expression reads everything.
What it reveals
If the Life Path is the purpose you are here to live, the Expression is the toolkit you bring to it. It is the “how” to the Life Path’s “what”: the abilities, aptitudes, and ways of working that come naturally to you, and the destiny you can grow into by developing them.
The important thing to understand is that the Expression describes potential, not a guarantee. The talent is there to be developed, and you may not be living it fully yet, whether because circumstances have not called it forward or because the confidence is still being built. It marks what you are equipped to become, not a fixed report on who you already are.
Where it sits among your numbers
The Expression works closely with two other numbers. Against your Soul Urge, the inner motive, it shows the difference between what you can do and what you most want to do. Against your Personality, the first impression you make, it shows the difference between your full range of ability and the part of it others see first. Read together, they describe what you carry, what drives it, and what shows.
