Missing Digits
Your Missing Digits, also called Karmic Lessons, are the numbers from 1 to 9 that never appear when the letters of your full birth name are converted to values. Each absent digit points to an energy that did not arrive as built-in equipment. It is not a fault in the chart. It marks a quality you develop consciously, through effort and repetition, rather than one you draw on by instinct.
How it’s calculated
Every letter has a value from 1 to 9 in the Pythagorean system. Convert each letter of your full birth name and note which values show up. Any digit from 1 to 9 with no letters mapping to it is a Missing Digit. Most people carry one to three. Having none is uncommon and suggests a broad, evenly stocked foundation. This is the mirror image of the Hidden Passion, which counts the digit that appears most: one reads what your name overflows with, the other reads what it leaves out.
What it reveals
A Missing Digit is not incapacity. It usually means the relevant muscle has not been exercised, so the challenge is less about ability than about belief in it, and about a default habit of reaching for something else first. A missing 1 can show up as waiting for permission before acting, a missing 4 as strong starts that lose momentum before completion. Many of these energies appear in one of two opposite forms, a contracted version and an overreaching one, both tracing back to the same underdeveloped relationship with that quality.
There is an important softening rule. A Missing Digit’s pull is reduced when that same number appears among your core positions, the Life Path, Birthday, Expression, Soul Urge, or Personality. If the energy is missing from your name but strong elsewhere in the chart, it is partly supplied already. The lesson is real, but it is not carried alone.
Where it sits among your numbers
Where the core numbers describe what you were given, the Missing Digits describe what you were not, and so they read best against the rest of the chart rather than in isolation. They also sit close to the Subconscious Self, which counts how many of the nine energies your chart holds at all, so a fuller set of Missing Digits and a lower Subconscious Self tend to describe the same terrain from two angles.
